Ashish Chanchlani cancels Captain America screening amid questioning over Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark on India’s Got Latent

Comedian and YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani has cancelled the screening of Captain America amid Ranveer Allahbadia controversy. His statement comes a day after he, along with fellow comedians Samay Raina, Apoorva Makhija, podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, and others were booked for making obscene jokes on ‘India’s Got Latent’, a YouTube comedy show.

“Hello Doston, I am not keeping well, so unfortunately I won’t be able to attend and host the screening of the film “Captain America: Brave New World on Valentine’s Day”. But don’t worry, those who are selected can still go and enjoy the show. I know I am gonna miss you all so much!  Love you 3000”, he wrote in his Instagram stories.

Ranveer aka beerbiceps has been facing backlash for obscene remark. As a result, an FIR was filed, and the police summoned those involved, including Ashish Chanchlani and Apurva Makhija. Ashish has recorded his statement and is expected to appear even further if needed.

What did Ranveer Allahbadia say on Samay Raina show?

During his appearance on the Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent as a judge on the panel, Ranveer asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” His remark received immense backlash. The backlash has not only led to criticism but also legal trouble for the YouTuber. While Ranveer issued an apology, Samay has deleted all videos from his channel.

The National Commission for Women has also summoned Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina over the ‘India’s Got Latent’ controversy, saying that the comments “have sparked widespread public outrage, violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect”.
